Crusade Review

So, I just finished reading Crusade by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguié last month. All I can say about the book reminds me of A Discovery of Witches in the sense of what’s good about the book is a very short list. Well, let me start with the short list. First off, I liked the premise of the book. It’s a very interesting premise. Second, I liked how well thought out the world was. It seemed like a real world.

However, that’s the end of the short list. First off, the book read more like the second book in a trilogy as opposed to the first book of a trilogy. To me, there were three reasons that made it seem like it was a second book as opposed to the first book. The first reason was that the authors gave too much information about the main characters too soon. In my opinion, there was no mystery to any of the characters. It seemed like the authors just wanted to spew every little bit of information out into the first book. Personally, I think that the authors should have spread out the information about the characters over the trilogy as opposed to dumping it all in the first book. Anyway, the second reason that made the book seem like a second book instead of a first book is related to the first reason. There was too many subplots. I can think of at least four different subplots within the first book. I think that is too much for a trilogy, let alone the first book. Anyway, the third reason that made the book seem like a second book instead of a first book was that there were so many secondary characters. I had a hard time keeping track of the main characters. I had an even harder time keeping track of the secondary characters. In my opinion, the authors should have streamlined the amount of characters, both main and secondary, that were the book. There were too many to keep track off.

My second problem with the book is that the main characters of Jenn and Antonio remind me so much of Bella and Edward from Twilight. I think that this is pretty self-explanatory. The only difference is that Jenn and Edward have a dash of Buffy and Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In addition to that, I felt that there was no chemistry between Jenn and Antonio. I think that it’s because the authors didn’t really explain Jenn and Antonio’s backstory enough.

My last problem with the book was how the story was set up. Personally, I don’t think that the way that the authors switched the points-of-view worked. I’m not sure what it was that made this one different because I have read other books where the points-of-view have switched and the books were fine. In addition to that, I thought that the storyline was slow.

Anyway, in a nutshell, I didn’t particularly like this book. I wouldn’t really recommend it to anyone, and I’m not planning to read the other two books.

A Beautiful Dark Review

Again, I wanted to do another book review before I forget everything. The book I’m going to write about is A Beautiful Dark by Jocelyn Davies. You can read a description of the book here. Like I said in my previous book review posts, I am going to be revealing spoilers. So if you don’t want to know what happens yet, then don’t read any further. Overall, I thought that the story was interesting. I will admit that when I originally read the description, I thought it was going to be about vampires because of how the description described the two main male characters. However, that is not the case. It turns out that they are like the Watchers from the TV show Charmed. However, they are not from Earth. They are from a different place entirely. All I can say is that after reading the story, the backstory that the two main male characters gave to the main female character reminds me a lot of the story of angels and fallen angels in the Bible. And the two main male characters infer that a lot of people on Earth based their religious stories on what the two main male characters are. I found that to be interesting. Anyway, I liked it. I would recommend it if you were to remember that the book is a work of fiction.

UK Glamour’s 31 Sexiest Movie Vamps

Again, I know this article came out a while, but I have a few problems with this list. My biggest problem with this list is the fact there are vampires from TV shows like Angel and Spike from Buffy, or the vampires from True Blood or the Vampire Diaries. The reason why I have a problem with that is because the list is called the sexiest movie and vampires, and those vampires are from TV shows. That leads me to my next problem. Even if you took out the TV vampires, in my opinion, there are way too many vampires from Twilight. It’s way too much. Anyway, my last problem is the fact that Robert Pattinson is number one on the list. I’m sorry, but he is not that good looking. Personally, I think that Ian Somerhalder, David Boreanaz, and Kellan Lutz are much more better looking.

David Boreanaz vs. Nick Lachey

I don’t know why but I was looking up Nick Lachey online. I looked up his picture and I thought of something. He kinda reminds me of David Boreanaz. I think they could pass for cousins. Yeah, that’s just what I think.

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment Review

This past Christmas, my friend Bob gave me the book Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson as a present. As a rule for myself, whenever a friend gives me a book to read for fun, I try to read it just in case the friend asks for my opinion on the book. Anyway, I finally got around to reading it back in August and was able to finish it in less than a week. In my opinion, the book is most definitely not the best book I have ever read. Personally, I think that the Twilight series is better, which is not saying much. The reason I say that about Maximum Ride is because the characters lack depth. Granted a few of the characters are young and don’t have much life experience, but I would think that the older characters would have a bit more depth than what was written for them. Anyway, the only thing that is good about the book, in my opinion, is the fact that it is very action oriented. But don’t take my word for it. Read it and form your own opinion.

Top 10 Loved Vampires

I was watching E!’s show 10 Vampires We Love shortly after I came home from watching New Moon. The show was a countdown of the vampires that the people of E! like. I’ll include the list at the end of this post. Anyway, I have a bone to pick with who they chose to be on the list. I noticed that the list didn’t include, in my opinion, a variety of vampires, and the fact that all, except one, of the vampires are from movies or tv shows that came out within the last ten years. Anyway, what I mean by the lack of variety is that four of the vampires came from two different sources. I find it biased like how this post is. The reason that I have a problem is that they didn’t include other vampires like Henry Fitzpatrick from Blood Ties, Mick St. John from Moonlight or any of the vampires from the Vampire Chronicles or The Lost Boys. I don’t think it’s right to put a relatively unknown vampire like Santinico Pandemonium or Dracula from Dracula 2000 on a list like 10 Vampires We Love when there are better qualified vampires out there.

10. Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore
9. Ashley Greene as Alice Cullen
8. David Boreanaz as Angel
7. Stephen Moyer as Bill Compton
6. Selma Hayek as Santanico Pandemonium
5. Gerard Butler as Dracula in Dracula 2000
4. Wesley Snipes as Blade
3. Kate Beckinsale as Selene
2. Alexander Skarsgaard as Eric Northman
1. Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen

Henry Fitzroy

Mick St. John
