My thoughts, opinions, and whatnots.

Within the last two to three months, I saw a post on TwilightMoms about how the Twilight Saga was challenged due to the religious factors, the age appropriateness, and the sex between Bella and Edward. While I agree that the age appropriateness could be improved upon, I don’t see why Twilight would be challenged on the basis of religious factors and the intimate relations between Bella and Edward. Well, first off, in terms of the religious factors, it’s not like any specific religion is endorsed. The only thing that I can think of that could possibly relate is the question of whether or not vampires have souls. And besides, if there’s a vampire series that you could argue has a more obvious religious viewpoint is the Vampire Chronicles. Because from about the fifth book on, Lestat becomes more religious. Anyway, the thing about the sex between Bella and Edward, I don’t really see why people would be up in arms about it. In Breaking Dawn, it’s not like the sex scenes are explicit. In the book, Stephanie Meyer merely alludes to it. Plus, I would think that people would be all right with it because Bella and Edward were already married at that point. Anyway, I don’t really get why the Twilight Saga was challenged in the first place, other than the age appropriateness.
