During June and July, I kept seeing the trailer for Toddlers And Tiaras. Anyway, the trailer made me think about the show. Personally, I don’t think the show should be allowed to be continued for several reasons. The main reason is the fact that these kids, I think, have way too much makeup, spray tans, hair extensions, etc. I think that all of those things are way too much for kids who haven’t even started puberty yet. I wouldn’t have a problem with all of that stuff if the girls in the pageants were teenagers. Anyway, the second reason is that the pageant moms say that the pageants will help with the kid’s confidence. I think that’s a load of B.S. There are other ways for a kid to gain confidence. The kid could gain confidence through sports, joining a performing group (i.e. a local theater), or something similar. The third research is the pageant moms themselves. I think that most, if not all, of the moms are trying to live through their kids. In a way, the pageant moms are like soccer moms. They both push their kids, and make them do things that the kid might not want to do. The last reason is the money that is spent on the actual pageants by the families when the prize is worth way less. Now, when it comes to other things like spending money on basketball camp for a kid who’s good enough to get into a very good college, like Yale, on a basketball scholarship, then I can understand. But when it comes to the pageants, I think it’s ridiculous to spend $10,000 on preparations in order to get something like a $1,000 savings bond. Anyway, that’s what I think about the show.
